Juneteenth

Juneteenth is to celebrate freedom in the black community….. but as I am prepareing to attend a protest today it is evident that we are still not truly free. I thank God we are not in shackles or being sold anymore, we can at least attend the same school and eat in the same restaurants but my God we still have a long way to go.

Mama’s yesterday was hard for me. I had an unexpected medical procedure done and a hard discussion about racism at my job. I was mentally and emotionally drained. But then I found out about a children’s March at Bushnell park and My 9 year old wanted to attend. So as a Mama I pushed through pain and all so her voice could be heard.

She was interviewed and given the opportunity to speak In the mega phone. She did amazing! As I watched her it brought tears to my eyes that my Justice is demanding “Justice” for her life and for the next generation! Thank you Jamila for making this happen!

So as we begin our day know that your children have a voice Mama! They want to and need to be heard! We just have to allow it in a safe space. Remember Mama you are Blessed and we all need grace! Check out the Hartford current below.
