My Son….what will I teach you?

I had gender reveal for my son! I had no idea what he was going to be. My best friend is the only one who knew and she pranked us at first by thinking the gender reveal was in the cake (we destroyed the cake trying to look inside) but it was in a piñata! When we saw the blue we screamed !!! Jeremie and I said “we did it !!!” But as I watch the news my joy turns to worry and wonder.

George Floyd was someone’s son he had a Mama and regardless of what the relationship was I could not imagine the loss of what his family feels.

As a Mama of a black boy I have to think of what I will teach him, how will I teach him to respond to authority. I think of my husband, father, brother, cousins and friends and I pray for there life and safety. When I grew up I was taught that law enforcement was to protect you, but that is so far from the truth

Will I tell you when you walk out the door keep your hands in plain sight, will I not let you walk out the house in a hoodie, will I make you come inside early, will I let you walk around our neighborhood? I don’t know… I really don’t know.

To all my Mamas with sons hold them tight today, tell them how much you love them and prepare them for the world. Don’t hide the truth because reality will catch up to them. As a Mama I encourage you to teach them about the armor of God (Ephesians 6: 10-20). Because they need to know where there help comes from.

Mama’s pray the blood of Jesus over there life, pray that God will dispatch an angel over them for protection. Ask God to protect them from dangers seen and unseen. Because as you see “they” don’t care about the breath we breathe ! In the comments below please share what you will teach your sons #Icantbreathe, #Justiceforgeorgefloyd, #askforgodsgrace

It’s sad, but we definitely have to prepare them for the war that’s being waged against them. #prayforourblackmen
